Political & Civic Position
Section 1: Non-Partisan Character
Thronos is a non-partisan organization.
Thronos does not exist as a political organization and shall not endorse political parties or candidates as an institution.
The organization shall not be established for the purpose of advancing the interests of any political party, candidate, or partisan political movement.
The non-partisan character of Thronos is part of its identity and shall be preserved across its activities, communications, Projects, Gatherings, and leadership.
Section 2: Christian Conviction and Civic Responsibility
Thronos does not believe that its Christian foundation requires indifference toward public life.
Christians may have legitimate responsibilities toward their families, communities, governments, neighbours, and wider society.
Members are therefore free to participate in civic and political life according to their conscience, convictions, responsibilities, and applicable law.
Such participation may include voting, public service, advocacy, political discussion, community organizing, lawful political activity, or other forms of civic participation.
Section 3: Individual Political Participation
A person's political beliefs or participation do not, by themselves, determine their standing within Thronos.
Members may hold differing political opinions while remaining members of the same community, provided that their conduct remains consistent with the Community Guidelines and other requirements of Thronos.
Membership in Thronos does not constitute support for any political party, candidate, ideology, or political position held by another member.
Section 4: Political Activity Within Thronos
Thronos spaces may be used for reasonable discussion of political, civic, economic, governmental, and public-policy matters.
Such discussion should remain consistent with the Community Guidelines and should not become harassment, intimidation, manipulation, or partisan campaigning where such campaigning is prohibited by Thronos policy.
Thronos may establish particular spaces or activities for civic education and public discussion.
Where political matters are discussed within Thronos, the organization should distinguish between the position of Thronos and the views of individual participants.
Section 5: Political Endorsements and Representation
No member, employee, volunteer, leader, Project creator, or other participant may represent their personal political views as an official position of Thronos without authorization.
Thronos shall not endorse a political party or candidate merely because an individual associated with the organization supports them.
The name, resources, platforms, facilities, mailing lists, membership records, or other assets of Thronos shall not be used for partisan political purposes without authorization consistent with this Constitution and applicable law.
Section 6: Civic Projects
Thronos may host or support Projects concerned with civic life, public problems, community development, education, research, service, governance, or other matters affecting society.
A civic Project does not become a partisan activity merely because it concerns government or public policy.
However, Projects conducted under the name or resources of Thronos must remain consistent with its non-partisan character.
Where a Project advocates a particular political position or policy, its relationship to Thronos shall be clearly distinguished where necessary to prevent the Project from being understood as an institutional endorsement.
Section 7: Political Disagreement
Political disagreement shall not be treated as a reason for hostility within the community.
Members are encouraged to distinguish between disagreement over political questions and the dignity of the people with whom they disagree.
Political discussion should therefore permit disagreement, questioning, criticism, and persuasion without permitting harassment, dehumanization, threats, or other conduct prohibited by the Community Guidelines.
Section 8: Independence of Thronos
Thronos shall seek to remain independent of political parties, candidates, and partisan political organizations.
The organization may engage with governments, public institutions, civil-society organizations, community leaders, and other public actors where doing so advances a legitimate purpose of Thronos.
Such engagement shall not by itself constitute political endorsement.
Section 9: The Principle
Thronos therefore maintains two commitments that are not contradictory:
The individual may participate. The institution remains non-partisan.
Thronos does not ask its members to withdraw from civic life.
Nor does it turn the community into a political organization.
Members remain free to serve their communities and participate in public life according to conscience, while Thronos remains committed to its own Christian foundation, purposes, and non-partisan character.
