Community Guidelines
Section 1: Purpose
Thronos is intended to be a community in which people can participate, build, learn, disagree, contribute, and belong without being subjected to abuse, manipulation, harassment, exploitation, or unnecessary hostility.
These Guidelines establish the standards of conduct expected within Thronos and apply to members, visitors, contributors, project participants, leaders, and other persons participating in Thronos activities or spaces.
Participation in Thronos is a privilege accompanied by responsibilities toward other members and the community as a whole.
Section 2: Respectful Conduct
Members shall treat one another with dignity and respect.
Disagreement, criticism, questioning, debate, and correction are permitted and may be valuable to the community. They should concern ideas, decisions, claims, or conduct rather than become attacks upon the dignity of the person involved.
Members shall not engage in:
harassment;
bullying;
intimidation;
threats;
repeated unwanted contact;
deliberate humiliation;
personal abuse;
stalking or targeted abuse;
or conduct intended to make another person's participation unsafe or intolerable.
Being offended by disagreement does not, by itself, constitute harassment. Likewise, disagreement does not excuse abusive conduct.
Section 3: Discrimination and Prejudice
Thronos shall not be used to demean, exclude, threaten, or harass people on the basis of characteristics protected by applicable law or on the basis of ethnicity, nationality, race, sex, disability, social status, or other personal characteristics.
The Christian foundation of Thronos does not permit members to use religious conviction as justification for cruelty, humiliation, hatred, or mistreatment of others.
Differences in belief, background, ability, occupation, wealth, education, or social position do not determine a person's dignity within the community.
Section 4: Sexual Conduct and Sexual Misconduct
Thronos shall maintain appropriate boundaries between members and shall not be used for sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, coercion, unwanted sexual attention, or other sexual misconduct.
Sexual activity involving coercion, manipulation, threats, exploitation, or the abuse of a position of trust or authority is prohibited.
Unwanted sexual messages, sexualized harassment, requests for sexual material, or sexual conduct directed toward another member without their consent are prohibited.
Particular care shall be taken where a significant difference in age, authority, dependence, or influence exists between participants.
Section 5: Manipulation and Abuse of Trust
Members shall not deliberately manipulate, exploit, deceive, or abuse the trust of other members.
This includes using personal relationships, religious authority, emotional vulnerability, financial dependence, access to private information, or a position within Thronos to obtain inappropriate personal, financial, sexual, or other advantage.
Leadership and influence within Thronos shall not be treated as personal entitlement.
Members should be particularly careful not to present personal opinions, interpretations, or interests as though they were the official position of Thronos.
Section 6: Religious Discussion and Disagreement
Thronos is founded upon the Christian faith, and Christian teaching is therefore part of the life of the community.
Members may ask difficult questions, discuss Scripture, disagree over interpretations, and engage in theological discussion in good faith.
Religious disagreement shall not be used as an excuse for personal hostility, humiliation, harassment, or exclusion.
Members should distinguish between:
the teachings and convictions established by Thronos;
interpretations about which Christians may reasonably disagree;
and their own personal opinions.
Thronos may intervene where religious disputes become abusive, disruptive, or inconsistent with the community's standards of conduct.
Section 7: Political Activity
Thronos is non-partisan.
Members may hold and express their own political views, subject to the general standards of conduct of the community.
Thronos spaces shall not be used for:
campaigning on behalf of political candidates or parties;
organized partisan campaigning;
political fundraising;
targeted political solicitation;
or presenting partisan political activity as an official activity of Thronos without authorization.
Nothing in this section prevents members from discussing public affairs, government, laws, economics, society, public policy, or other matters of legitimate civic interest.
Thronos may establish additional rules concerning political activity where necessary to preserve its non-partisan character.
Section 8: Spam and Unsolicited Promotion
Members shall not use Thronos primarily as a means of distributing unsolicited advertisements, repetitive messages, referral links, mass promotions, or unrelated commercial material.
Self-promotion is not automatically prohibited.
Members may share their work, businesses, projects, creations, or services where doing so is relevant to the context and does not become disruptive or exploitative.
The distinction is between contribution and extraction.
Thronos is a place to bring something into the community, not merely a list of people from whom attention or customers can be harvested.
Section 9: Financial Solicitation
Thronos is not a crowdfunding platform.
Members shall not use Thronos spaces to pressure, repeatedly solicit, or privately target other members for money.
Requests for financial assistance, loans, investments, donations, purchases, or other financial support may be restricted or prohibited within particular Thronos spaces.
Members may voluntarily support one another outside Thronos, but membership does not create an entitlement to financial assistance from another member.
No member may imply that Thronos has endorsed a financial transaction merely because the parties met through the community.
Section 10: Privacy and Confidentiality
Members shall respect the privacy of other members.
A person shall not publish, distribute, or otherwise disclose another person's private information without appropriate permission.
This includes, where applicable:
private messages;
personal contact information;
private photographs or recordings;
confidential documents;
personal circumstances shared in confidence;
and information that a reasonable person would understand to be private.
Information shared within a Project, Space, Gathering, mentorship relationship, or other restricted context should not automatically be treated as public information.
Members should obtain permission before publicly attributing sensitive statements or experiences to another member.
Section 11: False Information and Deception
Members shall not deliberately deceive the community.
This includes knowingly presenting false information as fact, fabricating evidence, impersonating another person, falsifying Project progress, misrepresenting credentials, or deliberately concealing material information for the purpose of misleading others.
Thronos does not require members to be correct at all times.
People may make mistakes, misunderstand things, change their minds, and hold opinions that later prove incorrect.
Being wrong is not misconduct. Deliberately deceiving people is.
Where factual claims are important to a Project or decision, members should make reasonable efforts to distinguish fact, opinion, assumption, and uncertainty.
Section 12: Artificial Intelligence and Other Tools
The use of artificial intelligence and other technological tools is permitted within Thronos unless a particular Project, programme, competition, assessment, or activity establishes different requirements.
Members remain responsible for material they submit or publish, including material substantially produced with AI.
AI-generated or AI-assisted material must not be used to:
impersonate another person deceptively;
fabricate evidence;
misrepresent personal experience;
plagiarize or misappropriate another person's work;
create harassment or abuse;
or deliberately deceive members.
Where the use or disclosure of AI assistance is relevant to the integrity of a Project, assessment, or other activity, Thronos or the relevant Project may require disclosure.
The use of a tool does not transfer responsibility for its output.
Section 13: Project Conduct
Projects are expected to be pursued honestly, responsibly, and with reasonable regard for the people affected by them.
Project creators remain responsible for their Projects and for the consequences of actions they undertake outside the authority or control of Thronos.
Members participating in Projects should:
represent their intentions honestly;
respect agreements made with other participants;
acknowledge meaningful contributions;
avoid exploiting participants or collaborators;
handle resources responsibly;
respect applicable laws and safety requirements;
and report material changes, failures, or concerns where they affect other participants.
Thronos may decline to host, suspend, or remove a Project where its activities present serious risks, violate these Guidelines, conflict with the Christian foundation of Thronos, or otherwise fall outside the purposes of the community.
Section 14: Authority and Moderation
Thronos may appoint or recognize persons responsible for moderation and community safety.
Moderators may:
clarify community rules;
request that members modify or remove content;
restrict participation;
pause discussions;
remove content;
suspend accounts or participation;
remove persons from particular Spaces or activities;
or take other reasonable measures necessary to protect the community.
Moderation should be exercised fairly, proportionately, and with regard to the circumstances of the matter.
Where practical, members should be given an opportunity to explain or appeal a moderation decision.
Serious matters may be escalated to the appropriate leadership or safeguarding process.
Section 15: Reporting Concerns
Members are encouraged to report conduct that may violate these Guidelines or place another person at serious risk.
Reports should be made through the reporting mechanism established by Thronos.
Reports should be made honestly and in good faith.
Knowingly making false allegations, fabricating evidence, or weaponizing the reporting process against another member may itself constitute misconduct.
Thronos shall seek to handle reports with appropriate confidentiality, while recognizing that confidentiality cannot always be guaranteed where disclosure is necessary to protect people, investigate serious allegations, comply with law, or take appropriate action.
Section 16: Consequences
Violations of these Guidelines may result in action appropriate to the seriousness and circumstances of the conduct.
Possible responses may include:
informal correction;
warning;
removal of content;
restriction of participation;
suspension;
removal from a Project or Space;
removal from Thronos;
or referral to appropriate authorities where required or necessary.
Serious misconduct may result in immediate restriction or removal where necessary to protect people or the community.
The fact that a person is a member, contributor, leader, donor, Project creator, or otherwise valuable to Thronos does not exempt them from these standards.
Section 17: The Standard
Thronos seeks a community in which people can speak honestly without cruelty, disagree without hostility, contribute without exploitation, build without deception, receive help without entitlement, and exercise influence without abusing it.
The purpose of these Guidelines is not to eliminate disagreement, difficulty, or human imperfection.
It is to establish the conditions under which people can belong, build, learn, serve, and grow together.
