Welcome to Thronos.
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Thronos, including its website, community spaces, Projects, Gatherings, and related services. By creating an account or using Thronos, you agree to these Terms.
Thronos is an early stage organization, and these Terms may develop as the service, community, and organizational structure develop.
What Thronos Is
Thronos is a Christian institution for human formation, meaningful work, and communal life, established to help people develop the capacity, character, knowledge, relationships, and structures necessary to faithfully realize worthwhile purposes. Thronos provides spaces in which people can learn, build, worship, participate in community, create Projects, and help one another become more capable.
The nature, purpose, Christian foundation, philosophy, and fundamental principles of Thronos are described in the Constitution of Thronos.
Your use of Thronos does not require agreement with every opinion expressed by another member. It does, however, require compliance with the principles and rules governing participation in the community.
Eligibility
You may use Thronos only if you are legally capable of entering into these Terms and are permitted to use the service under applicable law.
If a particular Thronos activity has additional age, safeguarding, or participation requirements, those requirements apply to that activity. Thronos may also establish additional requirements for particular Projects, Gatherings, programmes, or Spaces where reasonably necessary.
Your Account
Thronos accounts are created with an email address and a password. You are responsible for keeping your password and the email address associated with your account secure.
Anyone who gains access to your email account or your password may be able to access your Thronos account. You should take reasonable steps to protect these and notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.
You are responsible for activity carried out through your account, unless that activity resulted from circumstances outside your reasonable control. You should provide information that is reasonably accurate when creating or maintaining your account, and you may not impersonate another person or create an account to mislead others about your identity.
Your Participation in Thronos
Thronos is a Christian institution, and participation involves engaging with real people, shared commitments, and communal life. Your participation may include creating or joining Projects, taking part in Gatherings, communicating with other members, using The Third Place, sharing knowledge and resources, receiving or providing assistance, and taking part in other activities established by Thronos.
Participation is subject to the Community Covenant and Community Guidelines, which describe the standards expected of people participating in Thronos.
Projects
Projects are a central part of Thronos. A Project may represent something a member or group of members is attempting to learn, create, repair, establish, improve, or bring into reality.
Project creators are responsible for the accuracy of their representations about their Projects and for fulfilling commitments they voluntarily make to other participants. Thronos does not guarantee that a Project will succeed, receive funding, attract participants, produce a particular result, or continue indefinitely.
Participation in a Project does not by itself create an employment relationship, partnership, investment relationship, agency relationship, or other legal relationship between participants. Where a Project creates such a relationship, the relevant participants are responsible for establishing it appropriately.
Your Content
You retain ownership of the content you create and submit to Thronos, subject to any rights you separately grant to other people or organizations. This may include writing, Project materials, images, recordings, designs, documents, comments, and other material you submit.
By submitting content to Thronos, you grant Thronos the limited permission reasonably necessary to host, store, reproduce, display, transmit, and otherwise provide that content through the service to the audience for which you have made it available. For example, if you create a Project visible to members of Thronos, Thronos needs permission to display that Project to those members. This permission does not transfer ownership of your underlying work to Thronos.
Thronos may also retain copies of content where reasonably necessary for backups, security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, safeguarding, or operation of the service. You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights to content you submit.
Intellectual Property
The Thronos name, logo, visual identity, website, software, interface, original organizational materials, and other materials created by or for Thronos may be protected by intellectual property rights. Except where permitted by law or expressly authorized by Thronos, you may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, sell, or commercially exploit Thronos owned materials.
Nothing in these Terms prevents you from using content that you independently own. Your participation in Thronos does not transfer ownership of your Projects, ideas, writings, designs, businesses, inventions, or other intellectual work to Thronos.
Privacy
Thronos treats privacy and trust as important parts of community life. Our approach is described in Article XVI of the Constitution and in the Privacy Policy, which explains how personal information is collected, used, stored, disclosed, and otherwise processed.
What happens in The Third Place should not automatically become public.
Community Standards
You agree to participate in Thronos in a manner consistent with its Community Covenant and Community Guidelines. These standards address matters including respectful conduct, discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, manipulation, financial solicitation, privacy, deception, political activity, Project conduct, and the responsible use of technology.
Thronos may update its operational policies and guidelines as the community develops, provided that those policies remain consistent with the Constitution and these Terms.
Safeguarding
Thronos takes safeguarding seriously. Activities involving children, vulnerable persons, mentorship, positions of trust, physical spaces, digital communication, or other circumstances requiring additional protection may be subject to additional safeguards. The governing principles are set out in Article XIII of the Constitution.
Additional safeguarding procedures may be established separately and may include requirements concerning supervision, reporting, recording, background checks, training, investigations, and emergency response.
Moderation, Suspension, and Removal
Thronos may restrict, suspend, or terminate access where reasonably necessary to protect people, preserve trust, enforce these Terms, or maintain the integrity of the community. Moderation and disciplinary decisions are governed by the principles established in Article XVII of the Constitution.
Where circumstances permit, Thronos seeks to provide a fair process in which a person can understand the concern, respond to it, and appeal significant disciplinary decisions. Serious safeguarding concerns, threats, abuse, or other circumstances presenting an immediate risk may require protective action before the ordinary process can be completed.
Administrators and Leaders
People who administer or lead Thronos are subject to the same fundamental standards as other participants. Holding a position of authority does not place a person above the Constitution, Community Covenant, Community Guidelines, safeguarding standards, or these Terms. Governance and accountability are described in Article XII of the Constitution.
Where a complaint concerns a person responsible for administering or enforcing Thronos rules, appropriate alternative procedures may apply.
Money, Payments, and Transactions
Ordinary participation in the Thronos community is not itself a purchase. Thronos may nevertheless charge reasonable fees for particular goods, services, programmes, events, facilities, resources, or other activities.
Thronos is not a crowdfunding platform, and membership does not create an entitlement to financial support from Thronos or from other members. Members may engage in lawful transactions with one another where permitted, but Thronos does not automatically endorse or guarantee private transactions between members. Financial activity involving Thronos is governed by the principles established in Article XV of the Constitution. Particular paid programmes or services may carry additional terms.
Political and Civic Activity
Thronos is a non partisan organization. Individual members remain free to participate in civic and political life according to their conscience, convictions, responsibilities, and applicable law. The distinction between individual political participation and the institutional position of Thronos is described in Article XIV of the Constitution.
Third Party Services and Links
Thronos may contain links to websites, applications, services, or resources operated by third parties. Thronos does not control those third parties and is not responsible for their independent services, content, policies, or practices. Your use of a third party service may be subject to that service's own terms and policies.
No Guarantee of Outcomes
Thronos exists to help people become more capable of pursuing worthwhile purposes. It does not guarantee that a member will achieve a particular outcome, that a Project will succeed, that a business will become profitable, that a relationship will produce a particular result, that advice received from another member will be correct, or that participation in Thronos will produce any particular personal, professional, financial, spiritual, or other outcome. Members remain responsible for their own decisions and actions.
Availability and Changes to the Service
Thronos is an evolving service. Features, Spaces, Projects, Gatherings, interfaces, and other aspects of the service may be added, changed, suspended, or removed. We will seek to give reasonable notice of significant changes where practical, particularly where a change materially affects information or functionality that members rely upon. We do not, however, guarantee that Thronos or any particular feature will remain available at all times.
Disclaimers
Thronos is provided on an evolving basis and, to the extent permitted by applicable law, without guarantees that the service will always be uninterrupted, error free, secure, or suitable for every particular purpose.
Information provided by members is their responsibility and should not automatically be treated as information endorsed by Thronos. Participation in the community does not create a professional advisory relationship unless Thronos expressly establishes one. You should exercise your own judgment when relying on information, recommendations, Project materials, or other content provided through Thronos.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Thronos and its officers, employees, volunteers, representatives, and service providers shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or other losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, Thronos. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
This section is a placeholder pending review by qualified Nigerian legal counsel before these Terms are treated as the final legal terms of the service.
Your Responsibility
You are responsible for your use of Thronos and for the decisions you make based on information, relationships, Projects, or opportunities encountered through the community. You agree not to use Thronos to violate applicable law, infringe another person's rights, deceive or exploit others, or circumvent reasonable security or access controls. You are also responsible for respecting agreements you voluntarily enter into with other members.
Changes to These Terms
Thronos may amend these Terms as the service and organization develop. Where a change is material, Thronos will seek to provide reasonable notice before the change takes effect, and the updated version will state its effective date.
Continued use of Thronos after the effective date of an updated version constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Where a change requires a different form of consent under applicable law, Thronos will obtain that consent.
Governing Documents
These Terms should be read together with the other documents governing participation in Thronos, including the Constitution of Thronos, the Community Covenant, the Community Guidelines, the Privacy Policy, and any additional terms applicable to particular services or programmes.
Where an operational policy conflicts with the Constitution, the Constitution takes precedence. Where a particular paid service or programme has additional terms, those terms govern that service to the extent of the specific subject they address.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision shall be interpreted or modified to the extent necessary to make it enforceable where legally possible. The remaining provisions shall continue to apply.
Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the documents expressly incorporated into them, constitute the agreement governing your use of Thronos, except where a separate written agreement applies to a particular service or relationship.
