Guidelines

Section 1: Purpose

Thronos is intended to be a community in which people can participate, build, learn, disagree, contribute, and belong without being subjected to abuse, manipulation, harassment, exploitation, or unnecessary hostility.

These Guidelines establish the standards of conduct expected within Thronos and apply to members, visitors, contributors, project participants, leaders, and other persons participating in Thronos activities or spaces.

Participation in Thronos is a privilege accompanied by responsibilities toward other members and the community as a whole.

Section 2: Respectful Conduct

Members shall treat one another with dignity and respect.

Disagreement, criticism, questioning, debate, and correction are permitted and may be valuable to the community. They should concern ideas, decisions, claims, or conduct rather than become attacks upon the dignity of the person involved.

Members shall not engage in:

harassment;

bullying;

intimidation;

threats;

repeated unwanted contact;

deliberate humiliation;

personal abuse;

stalking or targeted abuse;

or conduct intended to make another person's participation unsafe or intolerable.

Being offended by disagreement does not, by itself, constitute harassment. Likewise, disagreement does not excuse abusive conduct.

Section 3: Discrimination and Prejudice

Thronos shall not be used to demean, exclude, threaten, or harass people on the basis of characteristics protected by applicable law or on the basis of ethnicity, nationality, race, sex, disability, social status, or other personal characteristics.

The Christian foundation of Thronos does not permit members to use religious conviction as justification for cruelty, humiliation, hatred, or mistreatment of others.

Differences in belief, background, ability, occupation, wealth, education, or social position do not determine a person's dignity within the community.
