Why Thronos

Section 1: Establishment

Thronos is an organization established to help people develop the capacity, character, knowledge, relationships, and structures necessary to faithfully realize worthwhile purposes.

It exists to help bridge the distance between:

“I want to.”

“I will.”

and

“I have.”

Thronos is built upon a simple conviction: human beings possess desires, ideas, abilities, responsibilities, and aspirations, yet the possession of these things does not by itself produce their realization. Good intentions require capability. Capability requires development. Development requires practice, knowledge, resources, guidance, and people. Action often requires structure and accountability. Meaningful work requires persistence.

The distance between intention and realization may therefore be created by many things: insufficient knowledge, undeveloped capability, inadequate systems, limited resources, isolation, poor accountability, or circumstances beyond a person's immediate control.

Thronos exists to help people address these obstacles and become more capable of faithfully pursuing worthwhile purposes and carrying the responsibilities entrusted to them.

Section 2: Our Foundational Principle

Thronos is guided by the principle:

Become the change you wish to see, and build the future you desire to live in.

To be the change is to take responsibility for becoming the kind of person, family, professional, leader, community member, or servant one believes the world needs.

It may mean becoming a better parent, learning a trade, developing financial stability, recovering from years of stagnation, becoming more disciplined, understanding Scripture more deeply, building a healthy business, strengthening a community, or fulfilling a responsibility that has been entrusted to you.

To build the future is to refuse to regard the future as something that merely happens to us. Where a person has the ability to act, they may also have the responsibility and opportunity to participate in creating better conditions for themselves and others.

Thronos therefore encourages people not merely to desire a different life, but to develop themselves and undertake the work necessary to bring worthwhile things into existence.

This principle does not mean that human desire is sovereign. What a person wishes to build must remain subject to truth, responsibility, and ultimately to the will of God.

Section 3: The Work of Thronos

Thronos creates structures through which people can move from intention to realization.

A member may come with a project, question, difficulty, responsibility, idea, skill they wish to develop, or aspiration they wish to pursue. Thronos seeks to provide, facilitate, or connect them with the knowledge, capabilities, relationships, resources, structure, and accountability necessary to make meaningful progress.

The work of Thronos is therefore not limited to any particular profession, industry, age, or type of ambition.

A person's work may concern their family, career, business, education, spiritual life, community, craft, or some other worthwhile responsibility.

Thronos does not promise that every undertaking will succeed. It seeks instead to help people become more capable of pursuing worthwhile purposes faithfully and responsibly. The structures through which this work occurs may take different forms. They may include projects, communities, gatherings, learning, resources, mentorship, partnerships, or institutions established within or alongside the Thronos ecosystem. No single programme or institution constitutes the whole of Thronos.
