What We Believe

Section 1: Human Beings Are Made for Fruitfulness

We believe that no human being was created to be useless, meaningless, or without purpose.

Every person possesses dignity before God and has the capacity to develop, contribute, serve, create, cultivate, and exercise stewardship over something entrusted to them.

We therefore reject the belief that a person's present condition is necessarily the measure of what their life can become.

A person may be undeveloped without being incapable.

They may be inexperienced without being without potential.

They may be struggling without being without purpose.

They may have failed without being a failure.

Thronos exists in part because we believe there is more that can be cultivated in people than their present circumstances may reveal.

Section 2: Everyone Has a Part to Play

We believe that every person has a role to play in the better future we seek.

Those roles will not be identical.

One person may build a business. Another may raise children. Another may teach. Another may invent. Another may cultivate land. Another may serve in ministry. Another may strengthen a community. Another may quietly become the dependable person upon whom others can rely.

We do not believe that significance requires fame.

We believe that faithfulness to one's responsibilities is itself significant.

The question is therefore not whether every person will do something extraordinary, but whether they will faithfully develop and use what has been placed in their hands.

Section 3: Poverty Is Not a Life Sentence

We believe that poverty, deprivation, stagnation, and difficult circumstances are realities that should be confronted rather than accepted as the inevitable destiny of a person.

We do not believe that poverty determines a person's worth, nor do we believe that being born into difficult circumstances means that a person must remain there for the rest of their life.

At the same time, we recognize that poverty is complex and that individual effort alone cannot resolve every circumstance.

We therefore seek a world in which people have greater access to the knowledge, capability, relationships, structures, opportunities, and resources required to improve their circumstances and those of the people entrusted to them.

We do not promise prosperity.

We believe in possibility, responsibility, diligence, justice, stewardship, and hope.
